The importance of an Opt in Page and how to build one that sells – Understanding How and Why to Create a Profitable Opt In Page

There has been a lot of talk about the importance of opt in pages, and it is not going to stop anytime in the perceivable future. The reason for this is simple. Opt in pages have continually proven themselves to be one of the most important and necessary weapons in an online marketers arsenal. The opt in pages sole purpose is to build up your email marketing list.

If you haven't heard it yet, then now is the time, “The Money is in the List”. If you have already heard it, then I hope you have taken it to heart. The reason that list building is critical is because with a list of targeted prospects, you not only have the ability to create a long term relationship with them, but you also have the ability to complete multiple sales over a period as short as several months. Plus, it often takes a person up to 8 times to see an offer before they act on it. A list gives you the ability to keep reminding them of the offer over a period of weeks in order to prompt them to action.

Your opt in page becomes important because without it, you cannot build your list. With the growing number of people online trying to build a list, it is becoming more important than ever to create a high quality opt in page to attract compel people to join your list over your competitions.

In order to create a high quality opt in page, here are some simple rules to follow to make sure that your page is not pushing people away, but rather enticing them to join your list. Most people will talk about design as the most important factor and historically it has been. However, with everyone offering a free ebook, software, or the like nowadays, the most important thing is make sure that you give an incentive or bribe to get people to join your list. Write a short report, or give away something that you already own the rights to. Regardless, of how your opt in page looks, a great bribe is the most important first step for you to take.

Once that is done, you need to focus on your design and text. You must have an eye catching headline that makes people want to join your list. You should also have a list of benefits that people will receive by being on your list. This could be free items in the future, unique advice and insight, or just updates to keep your readers ahead of the curve.

You should also try to make your opt in page as simple as possible as far as graphics are concerned. It should look clean and streamlined, as well as not take up an excessive amount of space. Your opt in page should be exactly that: A Page and nothing more. It doesn't need to be a novel with graphics about why joining your list is so great. You can also add some audio and/or video to give your page a simplistic, streamline, and professional sense. Keep it short, simple, and concise.
